I thought I would do a fun blog so you can find out a little bit about me.

You may be having a look around my website and want to get to know me a little or you have decide you want to work with me, it is only fair you know a bit about me. So I found a variety of questions to answer.....

1.    What is your favourite part of your job?

Getting to hear everyone’s different stories, they are so varied and so very different from person to person just as we are all individuals, but all so very, very interesting.

2.    What’s your ideal work-life balance?

My ideal work-life balance would be 3 or 4 services on a weekly basis with a similar number of client meetings, enough to keep me busy but allowing me enough time to enjoy some down time with my family.

3.    What was your first job?

I grew up help in my grandparents village shop, as I got to my early teens my grandad would give me a little money for help in the shop and going out to help him deliver papers. When I was 13 and legally old enough to have a paper round myself I delivered papers for my grandparents shop on a weekend then covered for anyone that was away on a weekend and during school holidays, often doing 3 paper rounds. At one point I knew all the paper rounds. My 1st “grown” up job was in a pub behind the bar on a weekend.

4.    Where do you see yourself in five years?

A well established celebrant who not only delivers ceremonies for end of life, couples or families but also creates ceremonies and delivers them for other occasions. I suppose you could say a type of “master of ceremonies”.

5.    Is this the career you saw yourself doing as a child?

Not at all, when I was around 7 -10 I wanted to be an accountant, by the time I left school at 16 I wanted to be an interior designer and went to college to do a course in Art and Design. (I loved the course and really enjoyed it)

6.    Would you prefer a job you hate with a high salary or a job you love with a low salary?

I would rather be happy to go to work and do twice as much than get paid more and not want to be there, when that happens time goes slowly and just being somewhere I don’t want to be isn’t good for my mental health.

7.    If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

As I am sure most people would have a similar answer but if I could change one thing it would be war. If I had a super power it would be that it would be impossible to start or to carry out fighting.

8.    Do you believe in any higher power? An afterlife?

I believe there is an afterlife, I personally don’t believe in god, but I do believe in spirits. When I create a ceremony I take into account your wishes and believes, if you want religious elements I am happy to include them and to carry them out because it is about what you want.

9.    Do you read/watch the news? What topics do you pay the most attention to in the news?

No, Probably hard to believe that I don’t watch, read or listen to the news, I feel it is far too negative and I don’t want to in put negativity into my thoughts.

10. What’s a cause or issue you feel strongly about, and why is it important to you?

Taboo subjects such as death, birth stories that are not how you expected or want to happen, and any other subjects that we rarely talk about. My talking about these subjects we can get a better understanding.

11. What do you do at work on a daily basis?

Each day is different and varies as to what I have planned that day or the coming days. My day could be writing a script, meeting with a bereaved family to find out about their loved one, sending emails with more information about what I offer, delivering a service and more.

12. Who inspires you?

My friends, my peers who offer support, although no longer here my grandparents still inspire me, as they were hard working people who worked together, loved each other, and saw good in others. My children inspire me to be the best version of myself, by doing so I am setting an example for them to be the best versions of themselves. The main person that inspires me is my husband, he is very hard working, loving, caring, and always trying to find a way to make sure we are happy. Oh and he knows how to make me laugh (even when I am trying to go to sleep)!
